Individual counseling sessions last 50 minutes. Clients are provided with a safe, confidential environment to explore their issues.
I use several counseling theoretical models in working with clients: Client-Centered, Interpersonal Process in Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
Client-Centered Therapy considers the client on an equal level as the therapist, and views the client as THE expert in their own life.
Interpersonal Process in Therapy focuses on an individual’s attachment styles, identity development, relational styles, intra-personal development, cognitive processes, family systems and psychodynamic processes.
Internal Family Systems identifies the various “hats” each individual wears, and how the person relates to themselves and others while wearing each “hat”.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy uses a gentle form of bi-lateral stimulation alternating between one’s left side of the brain and the right side of the brain helping to integrate trauma to relieve and lesson stress, depression and anxiety. Please see the links in the Resources page for more information about EMDR.
